What to expect from Apple in 2018, The year 2017 has not been such a huge success for Apple when we talk about sales. They were average the whole year even though with the release of iPhone X Apple couldn’t do much and rumors are that Apple is going to call iPhone X off this summer in 2018. However 2018 promises to be a Major year for Apple, with many new products on the horizon. Apple is expected to launch its first smart speakers the “HomePod” this year, along with a second-generation version of the iPhone X accompanied by a larger-screened version for those who want to go even bigger. A new iPad Pro with an upgrade of Face ID is said to be in the works, and Apple is also set to release its own “AirPower” wireless charging mat. Have a look on What to expect from Apple in 2018?
HomePod – What to expect from Apple in 2018?
Apple is all set to compete with Google Home and amazon echo with its own Wi-Fi connected smart speaker, HomePod. The HomePod is powered by an A8 chip for spatial awareness feature, this allows the device to analyze the room and then adjust the sound accordingly. Apple has focused a lot on the sound quality with a 7 tweeter array, each with its own driver, and a 4-inch upward-facing woofer for crisp, distortion free sound. Apple has also incorporated Siri in the HomePod and using a six-microphone array, HomePod can detect Siri commands from anywhere in a room, so Siri can be used to play music, answer queries, and more. HomePod is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2018!
Three New iPhones
Like 2017 Apple again plans to introduce 3 new iPhones in 2018. The first iPhone is expected to be a follow up of iPhone X with the same 5.8 inch OLED display. The second iPhone is expected to be a plus version of the iPhone X as the screen is expected to be of 6.5 inches with an OLED display. The third iPhone that Apple plans to launch is a 6.1 inch iPhone with an LCD display, this phone would target a mid-range market with a price of $600 to $750 in the US.
What’s common is that all of these phones with feature Face ID, edge-to-edge displays, and True Depth camera systems. So if that’s true we can say “Hasta La Vista” to the Home and touch ID fingerprint sensor. But again these are rumors shared by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo has been successful in his predictions as a lot of his predictions about iPhone X were true, so the three-iPhone rumor is credible.
We still haven’t gotten anything on the other features apart from Face ID, and edge-to-edge displays across the board, but a faster processor is a guarantee. Apple is expected to release these three phones in the mid of September 2018.
Face ID had been well-received by the customers and Apple plans to use it in its other devices too. It is rumored that Apple will use introduce the Face ID feature in the all new iPad pro which is expected release in September 2018. The new iPad pro might adopt some of the features from the iPhone X for example no home button, Face ID and a true depth camera as used in the iPhone X. The new iPad pro is rumored to be equipped with a faster processor and a custom Apple-built GPU. Since there are no rumors regarding the size it is expected that Apple might stick with the 10.5 inch screen.
We might see another iPad pro that might be of 12.9-inch screen with slimmer bezels. But rumors are strong regarding the Face ID and a True Depth camera feature in the new iPad Pro.
